Barcelona ’99, me on a 10 day solo trip, in what feels like a previous life. I called it a great way to do some soul searching, but – of course – it was just a quest for love.
So there I was, meeting this Italian girl in a youth hostel. I sure liked her a lot. Time, place and opportunity were just about right. Now, how to get myself out of the way?
We talked, we talked some more and then we talked. She took me to her new appartment, I took this picture, and we talked. OK, we also laughed. But that’s it!
Looking back, these memories put a smile on my face. This is a joyful song. I hope you enjoy it!

While I’m busy working on a brand new song, I took the time to add an earlier song to the list, Shape Myself Around You (2006). It features background vocals by Marieke and was mastered by Hans Pieters, Excess Studios Rotterdam.
The artwork is brand new, based on a photo taken during a mountain hike in the Austrian Grossglockner area, around the time I wrote the song.
I added the track to the bottom of the list, enjoy listening!

Hello everybody,
This song, Go Out And Play, is for the girl in the picture. In loving memory of her proud father, who captured that moment so beautifully and lovingly.
Go Out And Play was mixed and mastered on Friday, June 10, 2011 by Wessel Oltheten (Spoor 14).
For me, this song will always be connected to the tragic events that shocked my family and many others a week and a half ago. In the early morning of Thursday, June 9, my cousin Joute died, just 12 years old. The shock to his family and friends, his school and his community couldn´t be more devastating. Joute´s remarkable cheerfulness and perseverance will remain as a vivid inspiration for all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
On the day of Joute´s passing, I had planned to finish my work on Go Out And Play. After staying home at first, at the height of the shock, I felt the best thing I could do was to try to create something beautiful. So I went and finished it. I dedicate this song to Joute, his parents and his brothers.
